GLF gets a chillaxing summer

A one-day affair seems to be not enough to stage the fun, excitement and relaxation felt by each attending Great Life Financial (GLF) employee during the great summer escapade 2009 held at Balai Isabel, Talisay Batangas on May 23. Themed with the hip concept of “CHILLAX” (Chill and Relax) that perfectly suited the activity’s unwinding ambience, employees experience a great day filled with tiring yet fun games, luscious food, lots of laughter and ultimate bonding experience with each other.

Leaving the crowded sight of the city early (6:30 am), employees already had an appetizer of fun in the bus as they sing along with the Video-oke on their way to the enchanting resort. 

Arriving early, employees were welcomed by the breath-taking scenery of  Balai Isabel. The place was surrounded with trees, forest-like gardens, green fields and lake, truly a great place to relax and have fun. After settling down, it was time to get rough and tough for the employees as they participate in the extreme treasure hunt game prepared by the committee.

Colorfully coordinated, each team had to race to 6 stations (randomly situated all over the resort) where they were asked to accomplish a specific obstacle in replacement for clues of the treasure. Mentally, physically and emotionally, each team were challenged to give their best as they ran, got wet, screamed, joke around and even sarcastically protested, in finding the treasure.

Teamwork was a key factor in the success of the game. Game plan was equally important in getting the lead. More than finding the treasure, more than the flags, clues and maps, more than drinking a terribly cold soft drink bottle after jumping in sacks, or even diving for eggs and coins, or shooting 3-points and free throws, or even eating gummy worm candies and stuff, and paddling in a kayak, employees enjoyed the game not because of the competition but because they all just want to have great fun and relieve all the tensions from work, or more so, carpe diem…simply seizing the day.

In the end, only one team emerged victorious: Blue Ice team got the first place; in second was the Tequila Rose Team; followed closely by Green Cruiser Team who settled for third; And last but not the least, dragging their selves up in the fourth place was the Yellow Colada Team.

After the activity, everyone had luscious lunch filled with native delicacies & overflowing lechong baboy. After getting full, employees had their own time to enjoy the scenic view of the resort - adjacently situated along Taal Lake’s Coast Line.

Some took advantage of the pools while some just took their time resting, relaxing and having the perfect bonding moment with co-workers. Others took photos of themselves all over the resort as they admire the beauty of Balai Isabel, serving a perfect background for their own souvenir pictures.

All in all, everyone just had their own slice of enjoyment that day. 

Before the day ends, special awards were given to culminate the event. Mike Maloles and Joie Pasco were declared the Mr. and Ms. Chillax of the day, while Mavic Guieb and Jay Veridiano were surprisingly announced as the ultimate Babe and Hunk of the day. And Ronnie Mirandilla jumped for joy upon receiving the most energetic employee award while Joy Dizon captures everyone’s attention with the most colorful attire award. 

And Kudos to the 2009 summer outing committee, a jobe well done to all of you. You have surely provided a memorable and fun-filled experience to all. 

Maybe tired but not wasted, GLF employees returned home safely with smiles on their faces and memories to keep from what was remembered, a Chillaxing experience for all.
